Software available from the Assistive Technology team

Specialist software is available on University computers and some is available to loan or to download on personal devices.

We can help with access to the following software:

  • to help you access your course materials in alternative formats
  • to dictate your documents
  • Essay Writer to help you with creating essays and reports
  • to help you focus on notetaking during lectures. Formerly known as Glean
  • and to create mind maps
  • to empower blind and visually impaired users by converting on-screen text and environments to speech or braille
  • to make reading easier
  • to apply a screen tint and screen ruler to the screen. Available on all on campus and university managed devices
  • SensusAccess to allow you file conversion to more accessible formats
  • to magnify the contents of your screen, adjust contrast, convert text to speech and more

Please note that some software is only available as a temporary loan due to limited licenses.
