NPP - Normal Progression Point ECP - Exceptional Contribution Point

  • Annual increments are reviewed, and typically applied, each April. They are awarded to staff who:
    • have at least six months’ service in their current grade;
    • do not have a live formal warning (confirmed in writing) under the disciplinary, capability, sickness, or other policies/Statutes; and
    • are not already at the top spine point of their grade or within the Extended Contribution Points (ECP) range.
  • Progression is normally by one increment per year, up to the non-discretionary maximum point of the grade.

  • This pay scale is usually reviewed annually in August.

  • The salaries are for a full-time equivalent employee (1898 hours annum), part-time employees will be pro-rated accordingly.

  • Please note that hourly rates are rounded and are provided for information only.

  • As a Voluntary Living Wage employer, the salaries for Spine points 8 to 15 include an additional pensionable supplement to ensure we are paying at least the VLW. With effect from 1 April 2026 a supplement will be applied to increase their rates of pay to the following:

    • Spine point 8: £25,529 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
    • Spine points 9 to 11: £25,912 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
    • Spine point 12 and 13: £26,301 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)
    • Spine point 14 and 15: £26,600 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

These supplements are subject to regular review. More information can be found on the Understanding the Voluntary Living Wage.
