<![CDATA[69色情片 Associate (SS13364)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=SS13364 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=SS13364 About the role

A postdoctoral 69色情片 Associate (PDRA) position is available on a full time basis for 12 months to contribute to the project: Development and Validation of a Multi-functional, Multi-purpose Quantitative Tool for Dermal Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetic Modeling.

Background: Topical drug products applied to the skin undergo substantial metamorphosis as they are rubbed into the application site: volatile excipients like water and alcohols evaporate, and drug and excipients absorb into the skin. The resultant residual film on the skin surface has quite different composition, structure and properties compared to the starting formulation that “came out of the tube”. Predicting drug absorption during metamorphosis and from the residual phase is an unsolved challenge. This multi-institution collaborative grant funded by the US-FDA aims to expand the capabilities of an existing physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model simulating drug skin absorption and disposition to incorporate the metamorphosis of topical products following skin application. The final aim is developing tools that predict the performance of topical medicines and support bio(in)equivalence decisions.

This opportunity falls within an ongoing collaboration with the University of Reading, the Colorado School of Mines, the company Simulations Plus, and the FDA. Bath’s contribution to this research involves primarily the generation of experimental data to guide the development of this enhanced PBPK model by formulating products and the characterization of their metamorphotic events and their kinetics. Specifically, this PDRA will contribute to the project by: (a) formulating series of drug-vehicle combinations chosen for their potential to inform about metamorphotic events and provide relevant data for modelling purposes, (b) characterizing formulations by measuring drug stability and solubility in selected vehicles (initial formulations and after metamorphosis) and performing other tests (e.g., pH, viscosity, microscopy) as needed, (c) investigating drug and excipients (as feasible/relevant) skin permeation and disposition, (d) in collaboration with other researchers, link permeation data to metamorphosis events and formulation properties; and (d) investigating the manner in which experimental data might be exploited by a PBPK model. This challenging, fast-pace work will involve extensive formulation, IVPT and solubility tests and thus, quantitative analysis by HPLC. A successful candidate will be experienced in these techniques and will independently and pro-actively develop HPLC methods and propose alternative analytical approaches and tools which may be informative for the research aims. A background on skin formulation and percutaneous permeation is required. The successful candidate will have demonstrated capacity for carrying independent research including provision of technical reports, scientific outputs and efficient data presenting and sharing with the extended grant team and funders.

As a member of 69色情片 Stall at the University of Bath, you will be encouraged to take up a minimum of 1- days professional development pro rata per year.

About you:

 1. Contribute to the choice of formulations which will be used to elucidate the metamorphosis process, and identify relevant, quality and other drug and formulation characteristics that can inform about the metamorphosis process and its impact on drug absorption.
 2. Conduct IVPT experiments to characterise the drug and excipients (as feasible and relevant) in vitro permeation across the skin and their disposition in skin layers. This experiments may involve the starting product, the residual phase and intermediate transition phase (as relevant/feasible).
 3. Conduct preformulation work such as solubility and stability studies and other tests (e.g., viscometry, pH) identified as relevant.
 4. Develop and validate HPLC methods (or appropriate alternative analytical approaches) for the quantitative measurement of drugs and excipients.
 5. Conduct data processing, analysis, and interpretation in collaboration with research partners and ensure prompt interactions within the team to advance the project.
 6. Participate in monthly meetings with stakeholders (regulators, industry, research networks, as relevant). The PDRA will play a key role in these meetings presenting latest results and acquiring background information required for data interpretation and the planning of future steps.
 7. Contribute to scientific outcomes (conference presentations, scientific articles) of the grant.
 8. Together with other researchers, ensure that University of Bath policies, including but not limited to health and safety, research integrity guidelines and SOPs are observed.

The appointee to the position should understand, and have first-hand experience of the techniques used; (a) for characterizing the in vitro skin permeation and disposition of chemicals, (b) for determining solubility and stability of drugs in formulations and (c) for the quantitative analysis of drugs in biological media including HPLC. A good understanding of the pharmaceutical sciences underpinning drug delivery across biological barriers and the formulation and testing of topical drug products will be advantageous.

Enquiries and applications, including a full CV, list of publications/presentations, and two letters of reference, to Prof. Begoña Delgado-Charro (b.delgado-charro@bath.ac.uk) University of Bath, Department of Life Sciences, Claverton Down, Bath, BA2 7AY, U.K.

<![CDATA[69色情片 Associate (SS13369)]]> /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=SS13369 /jobs/rss/click.aspx?ref=SS13369 MyWorld Project

As part of the £35m MyWorld programme, we are searching for two motivated individuals to create the next generation of content bring together and creation tools for the creative industries across film, TV, games and immersive Virtual and Augmented/Mixed Reality. This work will make use of the latest advances in Machine Learning technology, e.g. generative AI, trained on datasets of world-leading quality obtained via our unique CAMERA Studio facilities.

Project Focus

We have one position available, ending 31/03/2027, across a range of activities but there is great scope for input in specific projects from candidates and the project is intended as a collaborative undertaking alongside the other half of our MyWorld team at the University of Bristol.

Topics of focus include:

 • Beyond SMPL: Building Anatomically Accurate Digital Human Models
 • Next generation virtual production with light-fields
 • Creating data-driven 3D human representations that combine the fidelity of implicit models with explicit controls preferred by animators

The following section details the brand-new equipment available that you will be given priority access to. This work will be interdisciplinary and collaborative and will span research across computer vision, computer graphics and machine learning. Candidates can come from a background in any but should be motivated to expand and learn techniques and theory from across the fields; all areas will build on firm foundations in maths and programming.

The CAMERA Studio

As part of our recent expansion we are very excited about the opening of the new CAMERA studio which uniquely comprises four innovative capture stages as illustrated above:

 1. Motion Capture Stage: Our marker based motion-capture facility is centred on 36 26MP Vicon Valkyrie cameras that can be used to capture highly detailed movement (e.g. individual fingers) as well as group interactions (many participants) in the large capture volume. We are interested in capturing truly realistic motion: this could be for training or validating markerless capture systems or biomechanical analysis. We have force-plates to capture ground-reaction forces and suspension harnesses to simulate constrained motion (e.g. movement under Lunar or Martian gravity).
 2. Face/Body Light Stage and Photogrammetry Rig: The face capture system comprises a light-stage from Esper with 25MP cameras and high-speed lighting control. The photogrammetry rig allows us to perform body reconstructions, e.g. for creating avatars. Combined, they allow us to capture cinematic quality datasets, e.g. to investigate training data for automatic avatar creation and rig construction suitable for high-end visual effects.
 3. 4D Volumetric Capture Stage: This new room scale stage allows for free-form 4D capture or lightfield capture using 48 24MP Emergent machine vision cameras. This will allow capture of high-quality, dynamic datasets and we are interested in using new view synthesis to provide virtual camera paths as well as new methods for artistic control and editing of volumetric data (e.g. allowing NERFs or similar to be used in immersive AR/VR productions or in visual effects).
 4. Virtual Production Stage: This brand new 12m by 3m LED wall will allow us to develop the next generation of capture and editing tools for media production. After initial success with projects such as ILM’s work on the Mandalorian, there is an increasing demand for virtual production. Access to an innovative background wall plus movable front lighting walls and ceiling panels will let us work on the next generation of production and visual effects pipelines. We are particularly interested in generation of the highest quality capture, e.g. recreation of lightfields for lighting accuracy, and to provide the most intuitive creative control for the director, actors and crew.

You will work alongside members of our excellent studio team who have long-standing experience across both technical and creative/artistic aspects of the studio. Collaboratively, they will assist with capturing exciting and challenging new datasets or showcasing our research with internationally leading studios and award-winning creative teams (e.g. DNEG and Aardman Animations).

CAMERA and MyWorld Partners

There are many collaboration opportunities with our external partners across the CAMERA centre and the wider MyWorld programme. Examples include the Foundry, a world-leading provider of tools to the Visual Effects (VFX) and Post-Production industry and DNEG the internationally acclaimed Post-Production house with numerous accolades including Academy Awards for Dune, Tenet, First Man, Blade Runner 2049, Ex Machina, Interstellar and Inception.

About You

In addition to working with the CAMERA centre in Bath, the MyWorld research project will include regular collaboration with researchers at the Universities of Bristol, Bath Spa and the West of England (UWE) including technical and creative collaborations. You will also join the vibrant Visual Computing and Machine Learning and AI groups at Bath. The VC group comprises around 30 doctoral students, 10 post-doctoral researchers and 8 academics and presents many opportunities for collaborative work and shared publications.

In addition to the standard duties of performing research and the dissemination of research through publications and demonstrations (e.g. SIGGRAPH, FMX and CVPR), you will also be expected to be involved in the supervision of project and PhD students as well as undertaking some teaching duties at undergraduate or graduate level.

The final aim is developing tools that predict the performance of topical medicines and support bio(in)equivalence decisions.

This opportunity falls within an ongoing collaboration with the University of Reading, the Colorado School of Mines, the company Simulations Plus, and the FDA. Bath’s contribution involves primarily the generation of experimental data to guide development of this enhanced PBPK model by formulating products and the characterization of their metamorphotic events and their kinetics. Specifically, this PDRA will contribute to the project by: (a) identifying a set of critical quality attributes of topical products in their starting “as in the tube” condition, and in the residual film that forms after application to the skin, (b) describing the kinetics of metamorphosis and associated events; (c) investigating formulation compositional changes during metamorphosis and how these may impact of the drug properties, including its physical state and thermodynamic activity, and skin absorption; and (d) investigating the manner in which this information might be exploited by a PBPK model. This challenging, fast-pace work will involve a range of techniques such as IVPT, confocal Raman microscopy, X-ray, FT-IR/ATR-FT-IR, viscometry, HPLC and MS tools among others. A successful candidate will be experienced in some of these techniques and will pro-actively propose and test other approaches and tools which may be informative for the research aims. Some background on skin formulation and percutaneous permeation is desirable. The successful candidate will have demonstrated capacity for carrying independent research including provision of technical reports, scientific outputs and efficient data presenting and sharing with the extended grant team and funders. You might be required to perform some experiments at the University of Reading.

 2. Conduct experiments to characterise the starting product, the residual phase and intermediate transition phase (as relevant). This may include a broad range of techniques such as solvent evaporation assessment, active physical status (precipitation, supersaturation) HPLC-MS, X-ray, Raman microscopy, FT-IR, ATR-FT-IR, thermogravimetry, viscometry, etc.
 3. Conduct data processing, analysis, and interpretation in collaboration with research partners and ensure prompt interactions within the team to advance the project.
 4. Participate in monthly meetings with stakeholders (regulators, industry, research networks, as relevant). The PDRA will play a key role in these meetings presenting latest results and acquiring background information required for data interpretation and the planning of future steps.
 5. Contribute to scientific outcomes (conference presentations, scientific articles) of the grant.
 6. Together with other researchers, ensure that University of Bath policies, including but not limited to health and safety, research integrity guidelines and SOPs are observed.

The appointee to the position should understand, and have first-hand experience of the techniques used for characterizing the physical state of drugs and formulations (microscopy and spectroscopic imaging methods) and for investigating compositional changes in formulations. Ideally, some understanding of the pharmaceutical sciences underpinning drug delivery across biological barriers and the formulation and testing of topical drug products will be advantageous.

This offer would be subject to you passing your viva with or without minor corrections and your PhD/Prof Doc being awarded within your six-month probation period.

Please note that an offer may be withdrawn, or probation failed, if a PhD/Prof Doc viva is not passed or passed with major corrections.

The University’s normal probationary requirements apply in all other respects.

A lower grade offer may be made with comparable reduction in responsibilities (and amendment in job title to 69色情片 Assistant) if a suitable applicant cannot be found to fill the Grade 7 position.

Grade 6 applicants will need to be within six months of submitting their PhD/Prof Doc thesis and will be promoted to 69色情片 Associate once their doctorate has been awarded.
