This role offers an outstanding opportunity to lead vital upcoming projects with budgets up to £100 million each across our diverse estate, from our original accommodation and facilities through to new campus upgrades.

Responsibilities

You’ll contribute to the university’s £1.2billion capital programme running over the next 15 years, with the potential to lead a variety of projects across accommodation, high tech laboratories, faculty buildings and restaurants. You’ll take ownership from day one, through to the completion and occupation of buildings.

In this role, you will lead the delivery of multiple, simultaneous complex projects within our diverse estate environment. This involves close liaison with clients to manage external assessments, design management, contract management, contractor management on-site, strategic procurement, and project handovers. You’ll develop cohesive project teams, ensuring that all team members are aligned and working towards common goals. By working closely with various clients and stakeholders, you will guarantee seamless project performance and maintain high standards through quality assurance and risk assessments.

To ensure all aspects are on track and within scope, you will closely monitor project performance, successfully implementing solutions by leading external consultants and contractors, coordinating both the legal and practical aspects of NEC and JCT contracts. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and effectively, meeting all necessary requirements, budgets and client expectations.

You’ll join a growing team managing capital development and day-to-day maintenance projects. We are a supportive, flexible team that promotes a positive work-life balance. This is a hybrid role with an expectation of 2-3 days on campus per week.

About you

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Proven success in delivering multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Comprehensive understanding of NEC and JCT contracts.
  • Experience in procuring, contracting, and managing workloads for both internal and external teams.
  • Demonstrable success in leading external consultants and contractors to achieve project goals.

Chartered Surveyor status is desirable, and we are open to supporting you in achieving this qualification.
