The Quads student accommodation

The Quads is contemporary accommodation for students, on the east side of campus.

Welcome to The Quads


The Quads is a complex of five buildings, each with shared flats for eight to ten people. It is home to over 700 first year undergraduates.

Located on the east side of campus and next to the popular lime tree food court, you are a short walk around from all facilities.

Living here means you'll have Eat and Drink credit to spend on food and drink in any University-run places to eat, to save you always having to cook meals.

To make you feel safe and at home, The Quads has a secure living environment, with swipe card access to the buildings and flats and a dedicated operations team.

Rooms in The Quads cost £247 per week. There are 708 ensuite rooms in The Quads.

Living in The Quads you have £25 a week Eat and Drink credit charged on top of your weekly rent, which buys you at least one meal a day. Eat and drink credit is charged for 33 weeks of the 38 week contract.

The bedrooms have:

  • standard 91cm x 183cm single bed
  • your own en-suite shower, toilet and sink
  • colour changing mood lighting
  • screen with HDMI connectivity
  • communal lounges, each shared by two flats, so you can relax and socialise with your flatmates.
  • a large communal kitchen shared with your flatmates
  • washing machine provided

Couple accommodation

The Quads have one bedroom flats, for couples only. These have:

  • standard 140cm x 183cm double bed
  • your own en-suite shower, toilet and sink

Room numbers

The Quads accommodation is made up of five buildings:

  • Acer (A)
  • Bay (B)
  • Chestnut (C)
  • Damson (D)
  • Ebony (E)

Each has between 18 and 43 bedrooms on four to six floors.

Your room details contain your building, floor and room number. For example, the room number QC3.05 means you are located in Quads Chestnut, third floor, room five.

Wheelchair accessible ensuite rooms in The Quads

There are two wheelchair accessible ensuite rooms on the ground floor. Each room has its own adapted wet room style bathroom, with pull cords, grab rails, and a shower seat. The shared kitchen has low-level counters, hobs, oven, and cupboards. All the external doors are motorised, and there is lift access throughout the buildings.

Life in The Quads

Quads flats are shared between up to 10 bedrooms. You will have access to a social lounge, which is usually shared with a neighbouring flat, creating a sociable setup where you are likely to cross paths with other students on a regular basis.

Some Quads buildings are in busy areas of campus. Quads Ebony, located near the eastern perimeter of campus, is generally quieter, and some flats are designated quiet accommodation.
